My sourdough starter in Phoenix went from flat to bubbly in two days after I switched to bottled water.

It was always sluggish with tap water, even filtered. I read the chlorine might be the issue. Bought a gallon of spring water from the store and fed it, huge difference overnight. Anyone else in a dry climate have water tips for starters?

Yeah, I read that letting tap water sit out overnight helps the chlorine evaporate.

My buddy tried that for his fish tank and it totally worked. I mean, his fish seemed way more chill after a day or two.

Doesn't hurt to let it sit out for a few hours first for sure.
