My sister said my sourdough starter is basically a pet, and it got me thinking.

She was helping me feed it last weekend and said, 'You're keeping this thing alive for bread you could just buy.' I mean, she's not wrong about the time it takes, but the flavor from my 2-year-old starter is something you can't get from a store. Does anyone else ever feel like they're doing too much for a loaf of bread?

Ever tasted that fresh, homemade bread?

Fresh bread is overrated, it's just warm and doughy. Sorry @nathan_webb, give me a proper crust any day.

Proper crust any day" but fresh bread has a crust too, you know. That crackly, shattering sound when you cut into it? Store bread doesn't do that. Your 2 year old starter is the real deal, don't let anyone make you feel dumb about it.
