I finally got into it with my mom over sourdough starter care
Tbh my mom told me I was wasting time feeding my starter every 12 hours instead of once a day. She's been baking since the 80s and swears her way is fine. But I argued that the 12-hour feed gives a better rise and more consistent crumb structure, especially in my 68 degree kitchen. Now I'm wondering if she's right and I'm just overcomplicating things. Has anyone else had a family member challenge your baking routine and made you second guess everything?

Had my grandma watch my dog once and she fed him half a loaf of her "tried and true" banana bread. He was fine but I was like grandma please the recipe calls for sugar not honey, the texture is totally different. She still brings it up every Thanksgiving like I'm the crazy one.

Read somewhere that dogs actually can't taste sweet the same way we do, so that banana bread probably just seemed like weird, dry cardboard to him. Your grandma meant well and he was fine, so I'd let her have this one honestly. But I get it, you were thinking about the recipe integrity and not just the dog's health. She probably brings it up because it's a funny memory to her now, so maybe next Thanksgiving just laugh along with her.
