Bought a $40 silicone bread sling, still tore my loaf in half
Saw the hype online and dropped $40 on one of those fancy silicone slings for my Dutch oven. First use, my sourdough stuck to it like glue after a 20 minute bake and I ripped the crust clean off trying to yank it out. The package said no flour needed, which was a lie. Has anyone found a trick to make these things work, or should I just stick with parchment paper and call it a day?
Whoa, wait, 20 minutes and it fused to the silicone? That sounds rough. I've been through a similar thing and honestly, I think the "no flour needed" thing only works if your dough is super well-floured and maybe not super sticky to begin with. Your mileage may vary, but I'd try giving the sling a light dusting of rice flour next time, even if it says not to.
