The tire guy in Akron scared me straight on torque wrenches
I was at a tire shop in Akron getting a set of four mounted on my truck when I heard a guy yelling at a tech in the bay. He was holding up a wheel stud with the nut still stuck on it and asking how much torque went into it, and the tech said he just hit it with the gun till it sounded right. The owner walked over, grabbed a torque wrench off the wall, and made every guy on that floor pull every wheel back to 100 foot pounds while I watched. Took them almost an hour and a half to redo 12 vehicles that were already out front waiting for pickup. I had been using the impact on lugs for 6 years and figured close enough was fine. Now I keep a click wrench in my box and check every wheel by hand before it rolls out. What torque wrench are you all running that actually holds up after a couple hundred uses?
