The day I realized I'd been torquing lug nuts wrong for 12 years

Was working on a buddy's 2018 F-150 last month and watched him use a torque wrench to tighten his lugs to spec. I always just gunned them on with the impact and called it good. Anyone else learn the hard way that overtightening warps the rotors on these newer trucks?

Oh boy, that's a rough lesson. So did you actually warp the rotors on your own truck before you figured this out, or did you catch it in time after seeing him do it the right way? I've heard the newer F-150s have thinner rotors that are especially sensitive to overtightening, and I'm curious if you noticed any vibration in the brake pedal before the swap. It would help me know what to look for since I'm still running an older model myself.

Nope, didn't warp them on my own truck. Caught the vibration in the pedal just in time after watching him.
