Spent 3 hours chasing a rattle in a Ford F-150 from Akron

It was a 2018 model and the noise was driving the owner nuts. I checked the heat shields, skid plates, even the glove box. Turned out to be a single 10mm socket that had rolled into a body cavity behind the rear seat. Anyone else find weird stuff making noise?

Heard a story once about a rattle in a minivan that was just a kid's toy car stuck in the air vent. Those hollow body panels are like black holes for loose stuff. @park.adam has a point about the jack spot, but sometimes it's the really dumb places you'd never think to look. That 10mm socket is a classic, those things are always disappearing. Makes you wonder how much random junk is just rolling around inside our cars.

Oh man, the jack spot is a good call. But seriously, get a flashlight and check under the seats, like way up under the seat tracks. I found a whole set of keys rattling around in there once, wedged in a spring. Also, glove boxes have little gaps in the back that swallow stuff whole.

Check the jack compartment first, always.
