Snapped a brake bleeder screw on a Honda Fit, what a mess this morning
I was doing a routine brake fluid flush on a 2013 Fit at my shop in Tacoma around 9 am. The bleeder on the rear passenger caliper was seized, and despite my PB Blaster and a proper 8mm wrench, the head just twisted right off. I tried the easy out trick, but that snapped too, so I had to pull the whole caliper off and spend an hour drilling and retapping the hole. The customer was waiting and I had to call and explain the delay, which was awkward since I quoted them a 45 minute job. It cost me $12 for a tap set and a chunk of my morning, plus the caliper is now a bit iffy on that side. Has anyone else dealt with bleeder screws that break flush on these older Hondas, and do you just replace the caliper every time or is there a better trick?
