Found out most shop air tools are over-lubed from the factory

I watched a YouTube tear-down of a new impact wrench last week and saw the guy pull out way too much grease from the clutch. Makes me wonder if I should be cleaning and re-lubing my own tools before I ever use them. Anybody else ever deal with that? What grease do you use for final assembly?

Grabbed a new air ratchet from the truck last month and it was just dripping with grease right out of the box. I wiped most of it off and put a thin coat of Mobil 1 synthetic grease on the clutch pack. Probably doesn't matter for home use but it bugs me that they just glob it on there. My old craftsman stuff never had that problem back in the day.

That factory grease helps break the tool in and probably saves more wear than a thin coat would.
