Found a weird trick for stuck brake bleeder valves on old Toyotas

Working on a 1998 Camry last week, the rear bleeder was totally seized. I tried heat, penetrant, the whole deal. Out of ideas, I tapped the side of the caliper near the valve with a small hammer a few times, not on the valve itself. After a few taps, it broke free like nothing. Has anyone else had luck with this kind of vibration trick on other stuck parts?

Did you try tightening it first like Simon said, or did you go straight to the hammer? Just curious if the vibration trick works better as a first or last step.

Nice, but did you try tightening it first?

Blair_green86 you're asking the real question here. @simonl86 is convinced we all just need to walk up and give the thing a proper twist like it's a jar of pickles. I figured if I was gonna mess with it anyway might as well go big or go home. The hammer always makes me feel better even if it doesn't fix anything.
