Still think acrylic yarn beats wool for baby blankets

I made 12 baby blankets last year, 6 in wool and 6 in acrylic, and every single person who got the wool one had it come back with pilling or shrinkage after a wash. Has anyone else stopped bothering with natural fibers for stuff that's actually gonna get used?

My wife made 3 wool blankets last winter and honestly they looked rough after like two washes. But is it really that big of a deal if people just want something soft and easy to care for?

I used to be one of those people who thought handmade blankets should be indestructible, honestly. My grandma made a quilt and it fell apart after a couple years of washing and I was kinda annoyed about it. But then my cousin's wife knitted me a hat and I accidentally shrunk it in the dryer and felt so bad. Idk, it made me realize that handmade stuff is usually more delicate because it's not made in a factory with all those chemicals and treatments. So yeah, I think it's totally fine if people just want something soft and easy, especially if they're not planning on passing it down for generations or something.
