Spent $60 on a single skein of that fancy hand-dyed yarn and it wasn't until I got home I realized it's basically the same color as my living room carpet

Now I gotta either frog a whole scarf I already started or commit to a project that blends into my floor like camouflage so if anyone's got tips on how to make oatmeal gray look exciting hit me up before I dye this thing with Kool-Aid.

Oh man, I feel your pain so much. Have you thought about adding a thin contrasting stripe or two in like a mustard yellow or a deep rust color? That can totally break up a solid color and make it pop without a whole new skein. I've also had luck using a slightly lighter or darker yarn for a lace pattern, the holes and texture give the color some life even if it's basically the same shade. Or if you're feeling brave, you could try a simple cable pattern, those twists and braids catch the light and make a boring color look way more interesting. The Kool-Aid thing is risky but I've seen people get wild results, just test a tiny swatch first. Hope you can find a way to make it work cause I know how much it sucks to watch a good yarn turn into floor glam.

Might as well knit a matching throw pillow and commit to the full camouflage chic aesthetic.
