Rant: That fancy bamboo yarn holder i bought for $45 was a total waste

I saw this beautiful wooden yarn bowl at my local craft store and just had to have it for $45. Figured it would keep my yarn from rolling all over the floor while I knit. Turns out my cheap plastic bag trick works way better because the yarn still snags on the bowl's edges. Now the bowl sits on my shelf collecting dust and maybe holding some spare needles. Anyone else regret splurging on a "must-have" knitting gadget?
