Just realized I was twisting my stitches for 2 years

Just realized I was twisting my stitches for 2 years. I was knitting a scarf last night and noticed the V shapes on my stockinette looked kinda off compared to pictures online. My friend Lucy glanced at it and asked why I was wrapping my yarn the wrong way around the needle. Finally looked up a slow motion video and yep, I've been wrapping counterclockwise instead of clockwise on every knit stitch. Anybody else have a mind blowing 'wait i've been doing it wrong' moment with basic knitting or crochet?

My grandma taught me to thread a sewing machine backwards. Took me 15 years to figure that one out.

wrapping counterclockwise instead of clockwise on every knit stitch" - oh man, that's almost exactly what I did for like a year and a half. But I gotta gently point out that the direction you wrap isn't always the issue, it can also be how you insert the needle. I was wrapping the right way but going into the back loop of the stitch instead of the front on my purls, which twisted everything. It's a really common mistake and honestly your twisted stitches probably look kinda cool and intentional, like a design choice. Once you retrain your muscle memory it's like a whole new world of even tension opens up.
