Just finished my 15th blanket this year and I'm kinda shocked

I started the year with a goal of making one throw blanket every 2 months, but I got into a rhythm with simple granny squares and just kept going. I ran out of my stash yarn around blanket number 9 and had to hit up a few garage sales to keep the momentum going. My neighbor actually asked if I'm running a secret blanket factory out of my living room lol. Has anyone else accidentally blown past a yarn project goal way faster than they expected?

...but is it really a win if you're just cranking out the same basic pattern over and over? Fifteen blankets with granny squares sounds like you're on autopilot more than making something special. I get the urge to use up stash yarn, but garage sale pickup yarn is a gamble at best, you don't know how old it is or if it'll hold up. My aunt made a dozen of those identical afghans one year and they all started pilling after the first wash, now they're just rags. Sometimes slowing down and putting more care into one piece is better than shoving out a bunch of mediocrity.

My kitchen scale broke last week and it took me three days to realize I'd been eyeballing my flour for bread and somehow my loaves actually came out better. I think there's something to this whole thing where we tell ourselves we need to be super careful and intentional about everything, but sometimes just doing the thing over and over is how you actually get good at it. Fifteen blankets might look like mindless repetition to someone on the outside, but you probably figured out a dozen little tricks about tension and joining that you wouldn't have learned if you stopped after three.
