I thought hand-dyed yarn was overpriced hype until I knit a hat with it
Spent $28 on a single skein from a dyer in Asheville at a craft fair last fall, and the color pooling was so uniform and rich I couldn't believe it. My machine-dyed stash now feels dull in comparison. Has anyone else had a hand-dyed piece last through multiple washes without fading?

Used to be pretty skeptical about paying that much for yarn myself. Picked up a skein of hand-dyed sock yarn from a tiny seller in Oregon on a whim, and the depth of color was just unreal. It's held up through maybe a dozen machine washes on gentle cycle with no noticeable fading at all. The way the colors shift in different light still catches me off guard sometimes. Machine-dyed stuff just seems flat in comparison now, honestly.
