Appreciation post: my first blanket looked like a parallelogram

Started my first ever crochet blanket last January. Didn't count stitches for the first 30 rows. Ended up with one side 8 inches longer than the other. Looked like a weird trapezoid. Frogged the whole thing and started over. Now I count every row like a maniac.

Frogged my first scarf like 4 times before I realized counting isnt just a suggestion lmao. Now I look like a math teacher counting rows under my breath.
