Tried using a wrench as a hammer for a tent stake...
I was camping near Lake Tahoe last summer and forgot my mallet. Used a crescent wrench to pound in stakes for 20 minutes before a guy walked over with a proper rubber mallet and finished in 5. Has anyone else gotten cocky with a tool swap and paid for it?

Oh, I've seen this backfire spectacularly. A buddy of mine was hanging a heavy barn door and used his adjustable wrench as a hammer to tap in the track pins. The wrench slipped, he smacked his thumb raw, and then the wrench head flew off and put a dent in his truck's tailgate. He spent the next hour at Home Depot buying a real ball-peen hammer and a tube of touch-up paint. Folks underestimate how much a proper tool saves you the headache.

@david_henderson6 totally nailed it. I chipped a tooth using pliers as a wrench once.
