The week I tried to hang a TV with a drywall anchor from 1982
Last Tuesday I was mounting my new 55 inch TCL and realized I forgot to grab toggle bolts from the truck. Found a rusty old anchor in a coffee can in my garage, figured it would hold. The TV stayed up for exactly 3 hours before it came crashing down at 2 AM, dented the floor and scared my dog half to death. Ended up using three concrete screws I had left over from a patio job and now it's solid. Anybody else ever trust ancient hardware just because it was already there?

Nah, old hardware is tougher. Your anchor probably just wasn't hung right.

Wait, you had an old drywall anchor from the 80s just sitting in a coffee can? I used to think old hardware was always better than the new stuff, like it was made tougher back then. But after a similar incident where a 90s era anchor failed on a bookshelf and ruined the corner of my floor, I stopped trusting anything that's been sitting around for decades. Now I just buy new toggle bolts every time, even if it feels like a waste of a buck fifty.
