Flathead screwdriver is my go to for opening paint cans, works like a charm every time. I just pop it under the lid and gently pry up in a few spots around the rim. Make sure you wipe it clean afterward though, nothing worse than dried paint crusting up your tools. Also saves you from mangling a butter knife that you might actually need later for spreading peanut butter.

Never really thought about it that way before. Always figured any ol' flathead would do the job, but you make a solid point about the butter knife getting wrecked. Wiping it clean after is a good habit too, I've definitely ruined a few tools letting paint dry on them. Guess I'll be grabbing the screwdriver from now on.
