Dropped $200 on a dash cam and it paid off in one afternoon

I was on the highway near Austin last Tuesday. Semi truck in front of me dropped a metal ladder right on the road. I swerved but still clipped it with my front bumper. The footage caught everything clear as day. Trucking company tried to blame me at first. Sent them the video and they paid for all $1,200 in repairs within a week. That dash cam cost $200 and it already saved my deductible and my insurance rates. Anyone else had a cheap piece of gear save them big money like that?

Glad that video shut them up real quick.

You know what, I used to think dash cams were just another gadget people overhyped. I figured insurance would handle everything if something happened. But after a friend of mine almost got screwed in a hit and run last year, I totally changed my mind. Watching that footage of the ladder bouncing on the highway makes me want to get one right now. A two hundred dollar investment to avoid a twelve hundred dollar headache and higher rates sounds like a no-brainer to me now. It's crazy how one little camera can shut down a whole lying story.
