Buddy told me his wrecked S10 was 'fixable with a hammer and some duct tape'

Turns out the frame was bent on three sides and the steering column was hanging by a wire. Has anyone else had a friend try to talk you into a repair job that was way worse than they claimed?

lmao honestly I used to be that guy. Before my own buddy tried to sell me on a "minor dent" that turned out to be the whole unibody shifted three inches to the left. I figured hey, a little bondo and some elbow grease, what's the worst that could happen? Then I saw the frame was cracked in two places and the radiator was held in with a zip tie. Now I'm the first person to say just walk away, some cars are beyond saving no matter how much you wanna believe the hype.

Ha! Sounds like your buddy was trying to unload a pile of scrap metal with a zip tie holding it together. Some people really think "minor fix" means "just needs a new everything." Ever find out what happened to that car, or is it still sitting in someone's yard as a "future project"?
