My neighbor's 'just add pasta to cold water' trick ruined dinner for 8 people last Friday
She swore it saves time but the spaghetti turned into a sticky paste brick and I had to order pizza for everyone, has anyone else fallen for a kitchen shortcut that backfired this bad?

No kidding, that pasta trick is a disaster waiting to happen! I fell for something similar with that hack where you're supposed to just dump frozen vegetables straight into a hot pan without thawing them first. Ended up with a soggy, watery mess that tasted like ass and took twice as long to cook. Had to toss the whole damn thing and order takeout. These shortcuts people peddle online are usually just lazy nonsense that wastes more time in the long run. You're better off just doing it the normal way and not risking a dinner party meltdown.

Lazy nonsense" is right. I tried that frozen broccoli straight into the pan thing once. It basically steamed itself into mush while I stood there hungry. Ended up ordering a pizza and the broccoli went in the trash where it belonged.
