I finally bridged the gap with my skeptical uncle over our family well project

We've been butting heads for years about maintaining the old homestead well, with him insisting on quick fixes and me pushing for proper casing. Last weekend, during a visit, I dragged him out to the site where we were prepping for a new gravel pack, and I just started yapping about aquifer recharge zones, kinda like how my first foreman used to lecture us over coffee breaks. He surprised me by actually leaning in when I showed how sediment sampling predicted our water quality, and he even recalled a story from his army days about digging trenches in similar soil. That led to him helping me adjust the bailer, and we ended up laughing over how his 'back in my day' methods sometimes align with modern techniques. It was just a few hours, but watching him nod along as we measured the static water level felt like cracking a stubborn formation. Now he's texting me articles about groundwater conservation, and it's those little connections that remind me why this trade is about more than steel and mud.

Really doubt it's that big of a deal. People get set in their ways and just adapt. Kinda doubt one change wrecks everything.
