Certification programs are booming, yet some top makers learned on their own
I see more shops asking for paper credentials, but the slickest fix I know was done by a guy with no classes, so are we valuing diplomas over actual skill now?

Sounds about right. My dishwasher still runs because of a neighbor with a youtube history, not a framed certificate.

My buddy's furnace quit last winter during a cold snap. His neighbor who fixes race car engines figured it out with a multimeter and a forum thread, not a degree. Sometimes real world know-how beats a piece of paper every time.
