Rant: That solar-powered fan hat was a total waste of $35
I bought this fan hat online because I work outside in the Florida heat and thought it would keep me cool. The fan barely moves any air, and the solar panel only works if you stand directly in the sun for an hour to charge it. After three uses, the blades started making a grinding noise and then stopped completely. Tried to return it but the company ghosted me on email. Anyone else get burned by one of those novelty outdoor gadgets that looks good in the ad but fails in real life?

Did you try putting ice packs in the pockets of a cooling vest instead? I work construction in Texas and gave up on those gimmicky solar hats after wasting money on two of them. What actually worked for me was a cheap mesh vest with those reusable ice packs you swap out every few hours. The fan hats just don't have enough power to make a real difference, especially if you're actually moving around and sweating. I also bought a regular battery powered neck fan for about $20 and it's been way more reliable than anything solar.
