My cousin the engineer roasted my duct tape fix last night

So my cousin Jenna who works at an aerospace place in Huntsville saw me trying to patch a leaky garden hose with like 8 layers of duct tape. She goes 'you know they make rubber splicing tape that actually bonds to itself right?' I spent $8 on a roll and it fixed my hose in 30 seconds flat. Has anyone else discovered a random tool that made you feel dumb for not knowing about it sooner?

Hit the nail on the head @wren806. It's like there's a whole secret world of specialized tools that nobody tells you about until you stumble into it. Duct tape and butter knives are the poster kids for "close enough" fixes, but the actual right tool saves you so much time and frustration it's almost embarrassing.

Duct tape is great until you find the actual right tool and feel like a caveman. I spent years using a butter knife to pry open paint cans before someone handed me a $3 spud bar and my whole world changed.
