Appreciation post: my weird alarm clock bread maker idea from 3 years ago finally worked

Back in 2020 I jury-rigged a $15 thrift store bread maker to a mechanical timer so it would start baking at 5 AM and wake me up with the smell of fresh bread. It was janky as hell and the first loaf came out like a hockey puck. After three tries and replacing the timer with something sturdier, it actually started working right. Now every morning I wake up to warm bread and it costs me maybe 40 cents per loaf versus $4 at the bakery. Neighbors thought I was nuts when I told them but now two of them are trying it with old bread machines from garage sales. Has anyone else rigged up a cooking gadget to do something it was never meant to do?

So you're really out here acting like waking up to bread instead of toast is some kind of life hack? I mean cool it worked but let's not pretend like a $15 bread maker from a thrift store is changing the world or anything.
