Spent 45 minutes cleaning a record that ended up being a warped mess
Found a 1970 pressing of Neil Young's After the Gold Rush at a garage sale for $2 and spent way too long scrubbing it with wood glue before realizing it's so warped it bounces the needle every two rotations. Has anyone tried that heat-press flattening trick between two sheets of glass or is that just asking for trouble?

Oh man, I tried the glass thing once with a slightly bowed Beatles record. Let's just say my oven now has a permanent smell of hot vinyl and my wife still brings it up at dinner parties. It's a fun science experiment but you'll probably end up with a very expensive coaster.

Man, you just didn't have it set right. The key is LOW heat, like 150 degrees max, and a thick piece of glass with something heavy on top. I saved a warped copy of Abbey Road that way and it plays fine now. But yeah, the smell is real. Your wife telling that story is proof you'll never live it down.
