Hit 500 records in my collection last weekend
I was just stacking them for a shelf reorganization and decided to count. 500 exactly. Never thought I'd get there, especially since I mostly dig through thrift store bins for $1 stuff. Has anyone else hit a random milestone like that and stopped to realize how many you actually have?

Would you believe me if I said I used to think hitting big numbers like that was just about collecting for the sake of collecting? I used to buy records pretty casually and never really kept count. But when I passed 300 a few years ago and actually organized them all, it changed my mind completely. Seeing everything laid out made me realize each one had a story behind how I found it or why I bought it. So hitting 500 isn't just a number to me anymore, it's really about all those little memories attached to each record. It stopped being about having a big collection and became more about the hunt and the history.

That's funny because my collection's story is more about me being a broke mess who couldn't stop grabbing dollar bin finds... I hit 400 records last year and realized half of them are scratched up copies of Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand that I bought just because they were cheap. But you're right about the memories, even my junk pile has a story behind every weird pickup, like the time I found a Herbie Hancock record in a pile of old car manuals at a garage sale. So yeah, 500 sounds impressive until you see the condition of some of mine... they're more like war stories than a perfect collection.
