Why does nobody talk about using compressed air on Sega Genesis cartridges

Tried the alcohol swab method for months on my copy of Sonic 2, then my buddy at a retro shop in St. Paul showed me a quick blast of air in the slot. Totally cleaned up the garbled sprites without me having to open anything. Has anyone else found a simple fix that beat the standard advice?

Man, compressed air REALLY is the unsung hero of retro gaming. I read a post on another forum last year where someone swore by it for their copy of Earthworm Jim that had constant freezing issues. They said a quick blast cleaned out dust that was messing with the pin connections way better than alcohol ever could. I tried it on my own copy of Altered Beast and I'll be darned if the screen tearing didn't just disappear. Now I keep a can of that stuff right next to my console, its way safer than messing with q-tips and liquid.
