That old Commodore 64 my neighbor dropped off taught me something about patience
Guy down the street saw my shop sign and brought over a dusty C64 from his attic. Said it stopped working in 1992 and he never bothered to fix it. I spent a Saturday cleaning the PSU pins and reseating every chip inside. Booted right up on the third try and he just stood there with his mouth open. Anyone else have a random neighbor show up with vintage gear they forgot about?

The old "it stopped working in 1992 and I never bothered" excuse (classic procrastination move). Bet your neighbor was hoping you'd just tell him it was haunted or something.

Yeah the "I never bothered" thing is a classic move when you just don't want to deal with a project anymore. If you're ever stuck like that with a broken TV or appliance, just tell the neighbor you'll help them haul it to the recycling center. It gets you out of the awkwardness and they actually get rid of the thing.
