Went from hating Alps switches to loving them in one week

Ngl I thought Alps were overhyped trash until last month when I found a busted Apple Extended Keyboard II at a thrift store near Portland. Spent a Saturday cleaning the switches with isopropyl and now I get why people pay $150 for these things. Has anyone else been converted by a specific keyboard find?

My brother found a Dell AT101W in his college basement and brought it home crusty as hell. I spent three hours desoldering those black Alps just to try them in a hotswap board... now I'm hunting for more old Dells on Craigslist.

That thrift store find sounds like a real gem. I had a similar moment about a year ago when I found an old Northgate Omnikey at a garage sale for five bucks, and after cleaning it up I finally understood what all the fuss was about with Alps. It's amazing how a little patience and some isopropyl can turn a dusty old board into something you genuinely enjoy typing on every day.
