Crazy stat I dug up about IBM Model M production numbers

I read that IBM cranked out over 10 million Model Ms between 1985 and 1999 but somehow they're still selling for $100+ on eBay, so which is it: are they actually rare or are people just hyping them up?

The hype is real because people just keep buying them up at those prices, I've seen the same thing happen with old Logitech mice.

Nah, I gotta disagree a bit. That Logitech thing makes sense because gaming mice have actual features that improve with age like better sensors and switches. The G703 was a legit upgrade over older models. But with keyboards, most of the hype around vintage stuff is pure nostalgia. I've seen people pay crazy money for a beat up Model M that feels just okay compared to a modern $60 mechanical board with better caps. That price tag isn't about performance, it's about internet hype and limited supply.
