Cracked the 10,000 words per minute barrier on my IBM Model M and nobody cares

I finally hit 10,000 words typed in a single sitting on my old '87 Model M. Took me about 45 minutes straight, no breaks, fingers were cramping by the end. I was just zoning out writing some nonsense forum posts and checked my word counter for kicks. That keystroke tally surprised me because I usually top out around 7k before my wrists tell me to knock it off. Thing is, I tried telling a couple friends about it and they just stared at me like I had two heads. One guy said "so you typed a lot, cool" and changed the subject. Has anyone else here hit a weird personal best on an old board that meant nothing to anyone but you?

Nah, the math there's a bit off. 10,000 words in 45 minutes means you'd be typing around 222 words per minute, which is way faster than the world record. Even accounting for typos and backspacing, that keystroke count might be right, but words per minute wise it's not adding up. I get the excitement though, hitting a new personal best on a Model M is a real feeling, especially if you've been using it for decades. Those old buckling springs just feel different when you're in the zone, even if nobody else gets it. The fact your friends didn't care is pretty standard honestly, most people just see typing as typing.

Ha my buddy Steve tried to brag about hitting 8k words on his old Dell AT101W and his girlfriend just asked if he was okay. Some achievements are only impressive to the person doing them.
