PSA: don't store your tapes vertically for too long in a hot garage

I found a copy of The Matrix at a thrift store in Phoenix last summer for 50 cents. Got it home and left it standing upright on a shelf in my garage for about 3 months. When I finally popped it in, the tape had this weird wavy playback and the audio kept dropping out every 10 seconds. Opened it up and the tape pack had shifted inside the shell from the heat. Had to carefully wind it back with a pencil and store the whole thing flat in my living room, away from the AC vent. Anyone else had tape sag issues from storing them on their side too long?

yeah read somewhere the tape glue can get soft and sag when stored upright in heat
