Can we talk about that $50 VCR from Goodwill that ate my copy of The Fugitive?

I grabbed a Panasonic VCR at a thrift store in Portland for $50 last month and it worked fine for like 3 weeks. Then it just shredded the tape on my favorite copy of The Fugitive, pulled it right out of the cassette shell. I should have spent the extra cash on a tested unit from a shop, has anyone else had a thrift store player destroy a tape on them?

Blew $50 on a VCR from Goodwill myself last year and it ate my rental copy of Jurassic Park before the first chase scene. Honestly at this point I'm convinced thrift store electronics have a secret mission to destroy specifically the best movies first. The Fugitive is like peak 90s Harrison Ford, that's a real loss right there. Should have just used that cash to buy the DVD and a toaster instead.

Did that VCR at least wait until you got your popcorn ready before it went full horror movie on Jurassic Park? I mean, thrift store tech has to be cursed by a bargain bin warlock or something, targeting our childhood favorites first. Maybe the DVD and a toaster are a safer bet, at least you get breakfast out of the deal.
