Just realized I flipped my 50th used laptop this weekend and that's 50 times I've trusted random people's 'lightly used' descriptions
The last one said 'minor cosmetic damage' but the keyboard was missing three keys and the trackpad had a mysterious sticky patch, so has anyone else noticed sellers have a very loose definition of 'excellent condition'?

Honestly I gotta push back a little on this one because I've actually had pretty good luck with "excellent condition" listings. I think the problem is more that people have totally different ideas of what counts as cosmetic damage. Like some sellers think if the laptop turns on and doesn't have a crack across the screen, that's excellent. Which yeah that's not great but also you're flipping 50 laptops so you probably know the drill by now. A missing keyboard and sticky trackpad sounds annoying but that's still a pretty easy fix for a reseller.

Wait, are you saying 50 is the magic number where you stop being surprised by the definition of "excellent condition"? Because I swear I hit 25 flips and thought I'd seen it all, then got a laptop described as "like new" that had a fan that sounded like a dying blender and a webcam that was literally held on with tape. I think we all just develop thicker skin after a while, or maybe we're all just bad at reading listings through rose-tinted glasses. Honestly though, I'm almost more impressed you made it to 50 without losing your mind over a trackpad that's basically a science experiment. Here's to 50 more sticky mysteries!
