Sketching the city market with my cousin showed me a new way to capture crowds

We sat for an hour sketching the busy market. I used quick lines while he added lots of detail. How do you handle crowded scenes with family around?

Honestly I used to get so stressed trying to draw every single person in a crowd, like it had to be perfect. But watching my friend just block in shapes with a brush pen totally flipped my view. Now I go for the overall vibe, just energy and movement, and it feels way more true to the moment. Having family there actually helps because you can point out little things to each other you might have missed alone. It turns it into a shared memory instead of just a drawing.

Oh that's a great way to put it. @alicerivera how do you pick which little things to actually draw in the crowd now?

That "shared memory" bit got me. I did a sketch at a dog park once where the whole point was how chaotic it was, all blurs and leashes. The drawing was a mess but it perfectly shows why I never go there.
