Pro tip: My vertical gutter garden became a temporary bird spa
I rigged up some old gutters on my balcony wall to grow lettuce and herbs, but after a rainstorm, they held just enough water to attract a sparrow for a bath. The bird splashed around so vigorously that it sprayed soil and seedlings everywhere, which looked like a mini disaster at first. However, the disturbance actually aerated the soil and mixed in some natural fertilizer from, well, bird contributions. My plants ended up growing twice as fast, and now I have the lushest lettuce patch on the block. The best part is catching the occasional avian visitor enjoying their impromptu spa day. It's a weird win, but my urban garden is thriving thanks to some unexpected wildlife hospitality.
