Picked up whittling after a flat tire left me stuck in nowhere, Wisconsin

I was delivering out near Spooner and blew a tire on a back road. Waited 3 hours for a tow. Saw a pile of birch branches and a pocketknife in my glovebox. Started carving a little bear. It looked awful, but the time flew by. Now I'm three weeks in and I've got a whole mess of lopsided animals on my dash. Anyone else start a hobby just because they were stuck somewhere with nothing else to do?

Found a set of old jack knives at a flea market near Wausau last month... one of them was from some guy's 1962 Boy Scout troop, still had the initials scratched in. @the_richard is right, the tools from back then just hit different. I keep that one in my truck now, goes everywhere with the birch scraps.

Ironically, my grandpa taught me to whittle when I was a kid and I hated it. Now I'm going through old canvas tool rolls looking for his old knives.
