Found out my grandma's old treadle sewing machine is worth $2k after I almost sold it for scrap

Was cleaning out her basement last month and saw a rusted Singer in the corner, figured it was junk until I looked up the serial number online that night. Has anyone else stumbled onto hidden value in an old family thing they almost tossed?
