Spent 2 hours trying to fold a towel into a rose shape

I saw a video of someone folding a towel into a fancy rose for a gift basket and thought it looked easy. Took me like 45 minutes just to get the first roll right without it flopping over. Then I had to redo it 3 times because the petals kept coming out lopsided. By the end my wrist was killing me and the rose looked more like a cabbage. Has anyone else had a crazy learning curve with those fancy fold tutorials?

Oh man, I gotta say that's not really a rose shape you're describing. It's more of a towel bud or a loose spiral. A real towel rose has specific layers that overlap just right, not just rolls and floppy petals. I tried the same thing once and my first attempt looked like a deflated balloon. The trick is you gotta start with a tight center and then angle each fold outward just a little more than you think. Still took me a solid hour to get something that didn't look like a sad vegetable.

Actually saw a TikTok about this last week where a hotel housekeeper showed the exact method you're talking about. She said most people skip the inner fold and that's why their roses look like messy blobs instead of actual flowers.
