My aunt called my towel swans 'sloppy' and I had to rethink everything
I've been folding towels into animals for years, mostly for my niece's sleepovers. I thought I was pretty good at it. Then last Christmas my aunt looked at my towel swan and said 'the neck is too thick, it looks like a duck with a goiter.' At first I was mad, but she was right. The neck fold I was using left too much bulk. I switched to a thinner fold that tucks the edges in tighter, and now the neck actually looks like a real swan. I also started folding the wings at a sharper angle, which made a huge difference. Has anyone else had a family member just lay into your folding technique like that?

The YouTube channel "Connor's Bathroom Reviews" literally has a 12 part series on towel folding techniques for different types of fabric. I saw the one on Turkish cotton vs Egyptian cotton and he spent like 3 whole minutes talking about how the fold affects drying time. It's not fine art but there's definitely some science behind it if you're into that sort of thing. My gym towels still get thrown in a heap so I'm not one to judge either way.
