Just realized old cigar boxes are perfect for sorting screws and nails
I was digging through my grandpa's garage last weekend looking for a 10mm socket and found a stack of old cigar boxes from the 70s. Opened one up and he had every size nail and screw separated by compartments he made from cardboard strips inside. Anybody else repurpose weird containers for workshop storage?

Hold on, your grandpa used cardboard strips as dividers inside those boxes? That's honestly genius. I've been tossing all my loose hardware into old pickle jars like a total amateur. Now I'm kicking myself for never thinking of that, those cigar boxes are the perfect size.

Yeah @theas94, my uncle actually did something similar with old shoeboxes and those thin cardboard strips from cereal boxes (the ones inside the box, you know). He'd cut them to size and make little grids for storing his drill bits and small sockets. Worked way better than those plastic organizer inserts that always crack after a few months. Totally stealing his idea next time I visit the thrift store for cigar boxes.
