TIL shoving packing blankets against my wall isn't real bass trapping

Threw four old moving blankets into the corner behind my mic thinking I'd fixed my boominess and all I got was a slightly muffled room and a recording that still wobbled on low notes, so what are you guys actually using under $50 to kill bass frequencies in a tiny room?

My first "bass trap" was literally two pillows duct taped to a corner. It did exactly nothing except make my room look like a sad college dorm. I ended up grabbing a pack of Rockwool and some cheap fabric for like 35 bucks and just stacked it in the corners.

Huh, @willowc60 but pillows actually have some absorption properties if you use enough of them!
