I stopped chasing $200 acoustic treatment panels after recording a demo in a walk-in closet full of winter coats

Did a vocal take at my buddy's house last spring where he literally hung moving blankets over his sloped ceiling with binder clips, and honestly the demo sounded clearer than my home setup with all those expensive foam wedges.

Disagree though... those moving blankets might tame some high end reflections but they're doing nothing for the low frequencies that actually mess up your mix. That foam wedge stuff at least has some density to it, binder clips and a blanket aren't trapping any bass.

Oh man, so much of that expensive foam is just marketing hype. It's more about trapping air than fancy materials, your buddy's blankets were basically doing the same job as a $400 panel.
