I saw a guy make a soda can rose pendant and it blew my mind

He used crushed Red Bull cans and a little jump ring from a craft store, turned out way better than I thought possible. Has anyone here tried making jewelry from cans other than the usual aluminum tab rings?

Gotta disagree with the hype on this one lol. I've tried making stuff from crushed cans before and it's way harder to get clean cuts than people make it look. Plus Red Bull cans have those painted-on designs that chip off after a week of wear, so the pendant would probably look rough pretty fast. Regular aluminum soda cans are softer and easier to shape without cracking or leaving jagged edges all over the place. I'd rather stick with the simpler metals than mess with energy drink cans that fight back the whole time.

Wait, have you actually worked with crushed cans before? I'll admit I used to think the whole energy drink can pendant thing was this clever budget hack, but your point about the painted designs chipping is something I never even considered. I tried cutting up a Monster can once and got so frustrated with the jagged edges I just threw the whole project out. Your note about regular soda cans being softer actually makes a ton of sense, I bet they'd bend more evenly instead of fighting you the whole time. You totally changed my mind on this one, I was about to buy a bunch of Red Bull cans for a craft project but now I think I'll just grab some old Coke cans from the recycling bin instead.
