Appreciation post: grocery store butcher gave me a bone for stock
Stopped by the local ShopRite on Monday and asked the butcher if they had any beef bones for broth. He handed me a bag of marrow bones for free, just said throw it in your slow cooker with some scraps. Tossed one in with a chuck roast last night and the flavor was way deeper than usual. Anybody else ever ask for bones at the meat counter?

Read somewhere that chefs freeze bones until they have enough for stock.
