Finally cracked the code on my vintage sewing machine after 4 months of YouTube rabbit holes

Picked up a Singer 15-91 from the 1950s at a flea market in Austin for $40 and thought it just needed oil. Turns out the bobbin tension was way off and I spent like 12 weekends trying to figure out why the stitches kept looping on the bottom. Found a tiny adjustment screw hidden under the plate that none of the tutorials mentioned. Has anyone else dealt with a machine that just refused to cooperate for no obvious reason?

Tiny adjustment screw hidden under the plate" is exactly the kind of thing that makes vintage machines a nightmare and a treasure at the same time. I swear half the battle with these old Singers is just finding the one random screw or lever that some factory worker decided to tuck away for no reason.

That hidden screw under the plate on my 1951 Singer 201-2 took me three days to find because the manual just said "adjust tension" with zero details. But once I found it, that one little turn fixed a birdnesting problem I'd been fighting for months. Those factory engineers clearly thought some things were just obvious and left the rest of us to discover them through pure frustration.
